New Prints - Blush & Forbidden Fruit

Two new limited edition prints are now available from Washington Green, Castle Galleries and all partnership galleries.

Forbidden Fruit

In this piece I wanted to expose her vulnerability and innocence. This is highlighted by depicting her laying on a zebra striped couch. She covers her face as if to hide. What is she hiding from? She tries to melt into the couch as if she is camouflaged. Our animal instincts take over whenever we feel exposed. Just like the animal, we use our surroundings when ever we feel vulnerable. The apple symbolizes something tempting or perhaps sinful, but sometimes rules are meant to be broken.

Eve Two

Blush

Concentrating on her torso, I wanted to reveal a more intimate painting. The wet fabric over her skin allows the viewer to see through to her skin, with a transparent quality. The material clings to her body accentuating her natural form and true shape underneath, with minimal background to distract you, your eye wonders through the curves and get lost in the shapes made in the wet fabric. I translated the essence of these qualities directly opposite her in a abstract way. She is reflected as a textured panel of colour.
